Innovative, easy to use digital image management software, loaded with practical features. Designed specifically for scientists, an archiving product that also acquires images and includes a powerful search and find facility, choice of image display, editing tools and export file format options. An indispensable addition for any imaging scientist. Available for Mac OS X and Windows.

Do you have an image problem? Too many files on too many hard drives or CDs? How will you ever find that fantastic image you acquired three months ago that is just perfect for next week’s seminar? Archive your images with Phylum and there’s a good chance that you will!

Image Archiving – just drag and drop
Phylum is a drag and drop image management system. Folders of images are automatically catalogued by simply dragging and dropping onto the Library window. As images are catalogued, data is extracted and stored and a thumbnail image is constructed from the original image. Image thumbnails can be dragged into folders and organized into a hierarchy. Icons to the right of the library indicate where the original images are located - on a hard disc, CD or network, so you know on what type of storage device the original can be found.

Phylum accepts a range of file formats including JPEG, PICT, TIFF, and confocal microscope formats.

Choice of Image Display – use what’s best for you
View your images as individual frames, in a gallery for easy comparison between images, or as a movie for time resolved image sequences.

Search and Find – you know it’s there somewhere!
Phylum includes a powerful search and find command that not only allows you to search by naming criteria, but also by time stamp information, camera or microscope used, channel, and even image properties such as brightness, color and depth. When you’ve found the required image in the Library, view the ‘Source location’ to find out where to go to retrieve the original image.

More goodies
Phylum contains a host of tools and editing features such as Auto Contrast, adding a color LUT, changing color levels and contrast, removing noise, drawing ROIs and lines, adding image notes and scale bars, and many, many others. Image acquisition is made possible by the inclusion of TWAIN compatibility.

Case Study

Dr Galbraith has generated thousands of confocal and DIC images of cultured neurons and squid giant axons, and finding the image set he needs from his collection of CDs used to be a formidable task.
