Improvision provides a range of hardware items to add precision control for your imaging experiments. By choosing one or more items from the range, you can be sure that you are selecting hardware that will provide both high performance and reliability time after time.
The Improvision Acquisition Hub, Improvision Shutter Hub and Improvision Micro-Shutter and have all been designed by Improvision and manufactured in-house under strict conditions of quality control. Each item in the range performs a specific task that will enhance your imaging experience, either separately, in combination or in conjunction with hardware items from other manufacturers. This means that the range offers flexibility and cost effectiveness, as you can select the items you really need to fit your application, current hardware set-up, or budget.
Improvision Acquisition Hub is interfaced with Improvision software products. As part of a Volocity system it will control the piezo Z positioning device and the Improvision Micro-Shutter via the Improvision Shutter Hub. As part of an Openlab system it will control a piezo Z positioning device and shutters with Vincent Associates "Uniblitz" connectors, as well as the Improvision Micro-Shutter via the Improvision Shutter Hub.
Improvision Shutter Hub is used to control up to four Improvision Micro-Shutters or up to four 6mm, 25mm or 35mm shutters with Vincent Associates "Uniblitz" connectors. The Shutter Hub requires the Improvision Acquisition Hub to interface with Improvision software products. The Shutter Hub may be interfaced with other imaging software packages via TTL control.
Improvision Micro-Shutter is designed to provide the ultimate in high-speed shuttering. It includes a 6 mm diameter shutter which can open and close in only 1.5 ms, and is capable of an incredible 150 open and close cycles per second in burst mode. Tests have shown that the Improvision Micro-Shutter is 40 times faster than a built-in microscope shutter and can reduce fluorescence exposure by 40% (see this TechNote). This means that photobleaching and cell damage is reduced and your experiments can last longer and be more reliable.
